Jodie’s plotting deepens in Coronation Street after she commits two very suspicious acts

Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances-Brown) is a woman of secret – and on Coronation Street, that’s saying something.

From the second she escaped from the back of Emmerdale villain Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van during Corriedale, it was clear there was something shady about Weatherfield’s newest resident – especially when she engaged in some light stalking of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) at the hospital. As eagle eyed fans spotted, Jodie shared a distinctive tattoo with Shona, revealing herself to be her little sister.

Now that Baby Harper’s just been born, the Platts need all the help and support they can get. So David was only too eager to invite his wife’s sister to stay under their roof. It seems that Jodie’s return to Shona’s life at just the right time is a rather big coincidence – and we all know there are no coincidences in Soapland.

Coronation Street has already hinted at Jodie’s home life; how Shona was a teen mum who left their toxic household, abandoning young Jodie to their controlling father and enabling mother.

This is something Jodie has never been able to forgive Shona for. She idolised her big sister, and felt betrayed by her sudden departure. Actress Julia Goulding, who portrays Shona, lifts the lid on the troubled history between the Ramsay sisters.

‘We know nothing of Shona’s family at all,’ she explains.

‘I mentioned that I had a sister in one of my first weeks when Shona and Gail were chatting and we’ve never heard anything since, I think the reason being is Shona escaped her family life after she had Clayton at the age of 13 and obviously we know everything that happened afterwards with Dane and Nathan, the groomer.’

‘But I think the reason we’ve not heard much is she carries a lot of guilt for leaving because Jodie was six I think when she left, and they were really tight and she cared a lot about her, but I think she had to choose her own peace first to survive the world that she was living in with a really controlling father, and I don’t think she had any intention of never going back for her, I think as time went on it just got harder and harder. So yeah, she carries a lot of guilt.’

Now Corrie fans are about to get a glimpse of the Ramsay sisters’ family history with their own eyes in upcoming episodes, when Shona tries reaching out to their father. But Jodie’s up to some shady business… and I’m not talking about the way she flirts with Weatherfield sleazebag Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard).

When Shona manages to get the phone number for her Dad’s old friend, Bernard Bennett, Jodie listens in secretly. Then we see Jodie make a call to Bernard and ask for a favour. What is Jodie up to?
